Why House Church?
Let me put it this way; SOME Churches are becoming more and more caught up in a power struggle between the organization of church and the Word of God. More and more churches are being run like a business for profit than following the teachings of Jesus and His commands for His church. The aim of the 'business of church ' is to gain an increase in numbers, notoriety and profits. The show of earthly success attracts new members who are considered 'customers' in the church's 'business plan'. While this may initially sound reasonable, and perhaps even logical, the result becomes dangerous.
We are not 'customers' of the Kingdom of God. We are not to water down the Gospel and make it justify secular humanism in order to please customers . Many church leaders will say, "but we have to please the people because this is how we grow our church. We cannot sustain ourselves without a larger number of customers (members). Happy customers spend more."
But Jesus said,
"For I shall build My church,
and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
Who and what is building the church you attend?
Over time, the problem then becomes the demand to meet the needs of the customers or face the threat of loss of gain and profit. Pastors and preachers are seen as the enemy for preaching the truth of the Gospel which might offend valued church customers. Should he not fall in line with the business plan, and please the customers, he is simply replaced by someone who will. After all, the 'the customer' is always right.
And this is the opening of the gates of deception and corruption.
Churches that endeavor to run itself like a customer based business are welcoming the deception of taking the focus off of Jesus Christ and put the focus on Secular Humanism and all its fame, earthly success and fortunes. When that happens is is an open invitation to the spirit of corruption. When money becomes the foundation instead of the Word of God, the spirit of corruption slithers through the church until it finds its foothold. Footholds become strongholds. The Bible tells us that strongholds can only be taken down by The Power of The Holy Spirit, but He has already left the building that no longer points to Jesus as the Head of The Church.
Jesus is The Head of His Church
Some time after the light show, and somewhere between the espresso bar and the indoor children's adventure park you are approached by the people-pleasers to join and fall in line with the 'business plan', to follow the self-appointed church business leaders. It is an induction to shift mindsets from a pure trust in Jesus to a trust in the organizations's leadership and business or you will be an 'outsider' and asked to leave the Country Club.
"I AM The Way, The Truth and The Life. No one comes to The Father except through Me."
It's time to turn back to "The Way" Jesus taught us. It's time to come together in His Name to fellowship, pray, worship, celebrate The Lord's Supper and study His Word purely; with integrity and dignity, endeavoring to be Christ-like. Jesus is the Head of His Church and He is the Center of our faith, salvation, devotion and life. There weren't too many days that went by in the Ministry of Jesus Christ where He did not offend the customer base and its business-leaders known as the Scribes and Pharisees. Let us also call to mind how He reacted to the money changers outside the Temple who had their tables flipped and were chased out with a whip.
Jesus had something to say about His Father's House being run like a business; a church which seeks to please the customers and forsake The Word of God.....
“But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.
“Woe to you, blind guides, who say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that has made the gold sacred? And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it is nothing, but if anyone swears by the gift that is on the altar, he is bound by his oath.’ You blind men! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that makes the gift sacred? So whoever swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it. And whoever swears by the temple swears by it and by him who dwells in it. And whoever swears by heaven swears by the throne of God and by him who sits upon it.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others. You blind guides, straining out a gnat and swallowing a camel!
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. You blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you build the tombs of the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous, saying, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ Thus you witness against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets.
Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers. You serpents, you brood of vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to hell?
...The Words of Jesus Christ as found in Matthew 23:13-34.
Are you offended by His Word? Did any of His Words make you feel uncomfortable? Do you find yourself calling it 'our' church, or 'my' church? Or have you always called it "His Church"?
Are you saying 'yeah, but'? If so, it's time to take a serious and Scriptural look at the way you 'do church' and ask the Holy Spirit to convict your heart to correction in accordance of The Word of God, Jesus Christ.
Humble yourself before the Lord Jesus Christ in the privacy of your own home. Pray to Him, seek Him, and ask Him for forgiveness.
Ask The Holy Spirit to lead you in understanding the Bible and teach you God's plan for His Church. He will!
Repent, and step into your Full Armor of God*.
It may be a bumpy ride, so please buckle in by praying and talking to God through everything! The Holy Spirit WILL LEAD YOU into all truth... and His Church.
For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus

Our Father's House
Starting A House Church
In His Name
The Apostle Paul tells us in The Book of Acts, Chapter 2, how The Christian Church was born of The Holy Spirit. He tells us that the apostles were gathered in one house, praying for the will of God to be revealed to them. The Lord's will was revealed and the Christian Church was born by the Power of The Holy Spirit on The day of Pentecost.
Many churches were started in homes by a small group of faithful followers and true believers. They sought the Lord's will in prayer. Today, there are many house churches who are thriving and growing rapidly and the home they started in, can no longer contain them. These fellowships of believers are Holy Spirit led, God ordained and sanctified by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Acts, Chapter 2, goes on to tell us about this fellowship of believers and "the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved".
House churches are anything but insignificant or inferior. They are the God's ordained blueprint for His church. It is not about a building, it is about Jesus Christ, The Head of His Church, and how He is seeking to save His children. Are you serving in His Mission, The Great Commission?
It is always important that each individual as well as the body of a church regularly pleads the Holy Spirit to examine each heart of the congregation against the Words of Jesus Christ as found in Matthew 23: 13-39.
I am not advocating for people to walk away from a church which places the business plan and its customers importance over the Sovereignty of The Word of God; I am saying, "Run!"
I know I may get some flack for what I have written upon this page. I will likely be criticized and scorned by those who feel exposed by the Word of God in Matthew 23.
My response, "Take it up with The King of Kings, it is Him that I serve."
Prayer of Salvation
Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner and I am sorry for my sins. I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe in You and I believe Your Word. Please come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Take complete control of my life and help me to walk in Your way daily by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank you Lord for saving me and for answering my prayer. I pray this in Your Name, Jesus Christ, Amen.
*The Full Armor of God
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:10-18
